It is with great sadness that we mourn the sudden and unexpectedly loss of our Board President, of 3 1/2 years, Tony Vasile. Tony passed away on Feb 8, 2014. He will be greatly missed by all of his Family Promise friends and family.

Sally Reeder, President
Sally Reeder grew up in Pittsburgh and taught school there for 15 years before moving to Florida in 1986. She has been the owner since 1987 of Classic World Travel in Lakewood Ranch, a full-service agency specializing in group cruises, tour and events. She has also worked part-time the hospitality industry in Pittsburgh and Sarasota. “My catering and event-planning abilities were requested by a previous Family Promise board member to help with events,” she says. “One thing led to another, and I became more and more involved - loving every minute of it and happy to help.” Sally chairs the Family Promise Fund Raising Committee.
George Lavigne, Vice President
George Lavigne volunteered for Family Promise in Monmouth County, New Jersey for over a decade before he and his wife relocated to Sarasota in 2013. Originally from suburban Chicago, he retired from a career in insurance (Prudential, ISO, AXA Re, and Munich Re America) where he had management assignments in underwriting, financial planning, and communications. The father of two, he was also once a troop leader with the Boy Scouts of America and a board member of the Community YMCA in Red Bank, New Jersey, and he has always been actively involved in the work of his church.
Jeanne Zeigler , Treasurer
Jeanne Zeigler has lived in Sarasota for over 30 years. She is a Bookkeeper/Business Manager and has worked, among other companies, for the Sarasota Association of Realtors, and for the past 15 years for Frank and Anne Folsom Smith, renowned architect and interior designer. Jeanne has served as Treasurer for many organizations past and present including St. Wilfred Episcopal Church, Florida House Institute, American Business Women's Association (All Achievers Chapter) and her investment stock club. She has worked with Family Promise in many aspects for the past five years including congregation hosting, start up of Cardboard City and fill-in coordinator. She is very eager to serve in a greater capacity by joining the Board of Directors.
Danielle is a current Cardinal Mooney High School student. She is involved in Varsity Cheerleading, The Saint Vincent De Paul Society Board, Student Government serving as the Vice President, along with Mooney Medical, Photo Club, and Paws for the Planet clubs. She graduated her CYD class as the team leader in 2016. She found her involvement with Family Promise of Sarasota through her involvement with CYD along with her love for helping out those in need.
Sandee Davis hailed from Garwood, NJ where she worked at Union College as an Executive Secretary to the various college Department Heads and Professors. She moved to Sarasota 35 years ago with her husband Jim and 3 sons and they started up a ran a successful water restoration company, Grimefighters. Sandee has been active in various organizations both in New Jersey and the Sarasota area, She is the founding President for the Sunrise Chapter of American Business Women's Assoc. where funds are raised through the organization awarding traditional and non-traditional scholarships to women.
Sandee's involvement with Family Promise started with donating Grimefighters gift certificates for events and then to volunteering at various fundraisers where needed. Listening to the success stories of the Family Promise families and the program encouraged her to take the next step to serve on the Board where she'll be heading up Public Relations.
Tyler A. Hayden is an attorney with the Sarasota office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP. He focuses his practice on business, construction, real estate and general civil litigation. Tyler is a graduate of Stetson University College of Law where he focused his time on real property, probate and maritime law. His love of the water and the outdoors is what lured him from Ohio, where he had spent his youth and volunteer time with the Boy Scouts of America, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the American Free Tree Program. Tyler is excited for the opportunity to now give back and volunteer for the community of Sarasota.
Wendy Leventhal is a native Rhode Islander relocated to Sarasota in 1999. Real Estate agent with Coldwell Banker Previews International for 17 years. Received a BS in Ed from Northeastern University in Boston. Specializing in assistive technology, deaf services, autism and down syndrome. 1989 moved to Charleston SC and worked in the public school and college arenas as a speech teacher while attending graduate school for speech and language pathology at South Carolina State College. Served as the Director of children's services for Easter Seals of Charleston (1991-1999). Raised in a human services oriented family, she was involved with the opening of the first 2 child abuse shelters in RI and has been volunteering with Sarasota Family Promise since it's inception. Married with 3 children.
Nancy Levine is employed in the office of a Sarasota neurologist. Before moving to Sarasota seven years ago, she had a career as office manager for periodontal practices in Manhattan and Princeton NJ. A member of Temple Beth Sholom, she has been involved in Family Promise of Sarasota since its inception, as a volunteer coordinator as well as a board member. Among the Family Promise volunteers she has recruited is her husband, Dr. George Hafitz, a retired physician.
Andrew Lowther is a financial advisor and Certified Financial Planner™ Practitioner with Wells Fargo Advisors. He works with retirees and business owners in the area, focusing on tax efficient investing and wealth transfer strategies, and has been doing this for 10 years. Originally from Louisiana where he received a B.S. Degree in Mathematics from Louisiana Tech University in 1987, Drew has lived in Sarasota since 1996. He is an active member of the Siesta Key Kiwanis Club and has volunteered with other worthy causes including Mothers Helping Mothers. In his spare time he enjoys doing things with his 12 year old daughter.
Shawna Machado is an MSW student at The University South Florida Sarasota-Manatee where her focus is on creating a trauma informed society while working with the community to invoke positive change. She is currently an Adoption Specialist for The Safe Children Coalition, chair of the Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness, a commissioner on the Sarasota County Florida Commission on the Status of Women, and Student Representative for the Sarasota Chapter National Association of Social Workers. Formerly homeless from 2010 to 2012, she works as an advocate to create awareness of the effects of being homeless.
Joy Mayer is works as a consultant, training journalists and other communicators how to better engage with their communities and be responsive to audience feedback. She speaks and trains professionals and students on topics like social media, web analytics, digital strategy, reaching diverse communities and storytelling. She returned to Sarasota in 2015 with her husband and two sons. Before that, she taught at the University of Missouri School of Journalism for 12 years.
Betty & Stanley Pelletz
Betty and Stanley Pelletz have lived in Sarasota for 20+ years. After retiring, they sold everything and lived on their boat for 3 years. They came to Sarasota from Massachusetts. Stanley was a manufacturer of housewares in Leominster, Ma. Betty was a high school English teacher and a coordinator of ESL classes for indochinese refugees. They are one of the founders of the Sarasota branch of the Congregation for Humanistic Judaism. Their whole family is involved in the transitional house for Family Promise.
Meredith Strahle is originally from Delaware; relocating to Florida in 2001. She is the Banking Center Manager at American Momentum Bank; Clark Road Office; with over 33 years of banking experience. In 2008, she was humbled and thankful to win the James D Yancey Customer Covenant Chairman Award (Synovus Bank) for always putting the needs of the customer first and delivering excellent customer service. It validates everything she believes in and reinforces the type of banker she wants to be. She is active in 10 networking groups. In her spare time; she enjoys riding on a Harley; spending time with her family; and the beach.
Terri West-Corali is originaly from Lafayette, Indiana. She moved to Bradenton in 1969 with her parents. Terri went to school in Bradenton. Terri is married to Rich Corali and live in Bradenton.
Terri worked for EPIX (PEO) leading there Southwest Florida Sales Team for 12 years. Terri is now the owner of Westcoast Business Solutions. By outsourcing WCBS is able to bring together vendors to all sizes of business and industries with a set of best practices that are outside of the business owner's expertise. We are able to shop for the right Payroll or PEO outsourcing that meets the client's needs.
Terri has serviced on the Board and held several leadership positions with CAI Community Association Institute of Southwest Florida for 9 years. Currently she belongs to BNI Business By the Bay where she has held the mentor coordinator position for 2 years and belongs to BMI Business Managers International as well.
