Why Family Promise?

Family Promise serves homeless families with compassion and dignity.  It pools existing community resources, and enriches the volunteers and local host congregations who participate.

Family Promise of Sarasota FL, is part of a nationwide network of over 125 affiliates that touch the lives of 20,000 homeless family members—most of them children—each year.  Our goal is to help families help themselves by giving them the tools and support they need to work through this crisis in their lives.  Eight out of ten families graduate, regaining housing of their own.  Family Promise’s comprehensive model is nationally recognized for its effectiveness and success.

Simply put, Family Promise works!

  • Parents meet with our professional staff to work on their individual needs. Families can use the Center as a home base for mail and phone messages, and for doing their laundry, or for meeting up at the end of the day.

  • Family Promise Van: Our van transports families to and from the Family Promise Day Center and the Host Congregations daily.

  • Volunteers: Cheerful, supportive volunteers at the Host Congregations set up sleeping quarters, prepare meals, help with homework, and lend an ear to families at the end of a long day.
